![]() ![]() I bought several books they all expected me to devote months to learning the entire package. I think layers, required to accomplish almost anything, were the deciding factor. I gave up on Photoshop years ago after concluding that I'd have to waste an enormous amount of time learning to use the small fraction of its features that actually had bearing on my needs. But please don't denigrate with "quotes" ACDSee Pro's editing capabilities that are all many people need. (I know some people don't like layers, but they really are a powerful way to perform complex non-destructive edits).Maybe the asset management functions should be sold separately. ![]() Why can't ACDSee just make the asset management portion of the program (Pro version) available as a standalone? Sadly, as a previous poster mentioned, for many, the "editing" functions are a waste of time. I'm off to find out more about the once-yearly fee if that does not suit, I may have to seriously hunt for a different asset management program, as I have never used the editing and will not pay for two copies of a program of which I only use half anyway. (Only complaint is again the slowness of new RAW support it's aggravating not to be able to see and catalog your photos if you get a new camera.) xmp file for even those file types it doesn't support so you can still keep track of ownership, copyright, etc. No 'importing', good metadata access, easily drag your asset into the appropriate program, creates. But for me, ADCSee is the hands-down undisputed nobody else in the running winner in the asset management area. (I know some people don't like layers, but they really are a powerful way to perform complex non-destructive edits). Which brings up my pet peeve/soapbox: Why can't ACDSee just make the asset management portion of the program (Pro version) available as a standalone? Sadly, as a previous poster mentioned, for many, the "editing" functions are a waste of time. He certainly would not shell out the money for two copies of the program, especially since all he really needs is the cataloging functions. I was going to recommend ACDSee to him but he has two computers as well and he would be a new customer. I just came to the forum to find out about the $79 family plan as my husband needs some sort of cataloging system for his photos (mostly phone and snapshots). ![]()
